AWTeen Interway Authority

The AWTeen Interway Authority was an organization ran by pcnate during his time in the Active Worlds universe. This organization was responsible for the building and management of the AWTeen Interway System, the largest transportation network in AWTeen. Their base of operations can be found at AWTeen 0n 940w. The organization became inactive in mid-2006, about the time pcnate was last seen in AWTeen.

Among other things, this organization is credited to the innovation of the road networks in various towns of AWTeen, as well as sharing new building innovations with the AWTeen Community, such as AAA stoplights and realistic road design.

Road Network

The AWTeen Interway System was composed of eight expressways, which sported at least two lanes in each direction of traffic. The expressways mostly traveled through rural areas, however when pcnate was able to work with city leaders, such as in New Arklay City and Moonlight Heights the integrated expressways through those areas received additional lanes to support the flow of traffic to and from cities.

In addition to the expressways, the road network contains a large array of Trunk Roads, or two-lane side roads that usually begin as a controlled access exit from the interway, and lead the traveler to nearby points of interest.

However, such exploration would not have been possible without the incredible usability and detail of the Interway. Location Markers, maps, sophisticated road signs, and even historical markers dotted the interway and kept a user interested and looking for places to see. This in itself can also be attributed to the extensive detail of the road network. A strong advocate of unique road designs, pcnate adopted a new style of road that were formed out of various other objects, replacing the road1.rwx object. His road textures were adopted by the world administration at the time, and his various bridges and road projects featured as 'AWTeen Hot Spots.'

AWTeen Interway System

The AWTeen Interway is a vast system of Expressways and Trunk Roads that connect points of interest across the world. The following are teleports to all of the documented roads in service.

Expressways

• Northway 940 - The Northway 940 Interway. This northway is the oldest interway in operation, and features a variety of overpass styles due to its age and subsequent renovations.
• Southway 940 - The Southway 940 Interway. This interway is connected to the Northway through a short section called the Midway, and it sports 1 cantilever/tied arch type bridge and one arch bridge.
• Northway 1500 - The Northway 1500 Interway. This expressway was built with realism in mind, and connects travelers to some of AWTeen's larger communities as it treks through the eastern portion of AWTeen.
• Southway 1500 - The Southway 1500 Interway. A continuation of the Northway, this expressway was built with realism in mind, and connects travelers to some of AWTeen's larger communities as it treks through the eastern portion of AWTeen.
• Westway 2700 - The Westway 2700 Interway. This expressway traverses the unsettled northern area of AWTeen, in hopes that cities will spawn around the attraction.
• Eastway 2700 - The Eastway 2700 Interway. This extension of the Westway 2700 traverses the unsettled northern area of AWTeen, in hopes that cities will spawn around the attraction.
• IW-6 - Interway 6. This is the upper belt that works with the 1500 and the 940 systems and IW-7 to form a circle around the heart of AWTeen.
• IW-7 - Interway 7. This is the lower belt that works with the 1500 and the 940 systems and IW-6 to form a circle around the heart of AWTeen.

Trunk Roads

Legacy

During pcnates road development, his building relationships with the people of AWTeen was very strong, and he was a respected world figure. His road network connected towns and cities to one-another, and exploration provided by trekking the long distances that the roads covered offered a unique and fun activity for AWTeen users to do.

From late 2004 to 2006, it was not uncommon for users to organize trips to certain points along the interway. Some had planned destinations, and some were just to take random roads and see where they went. Users such as Hyper Anthony and GC would take a party of 5-15 users across the world on the interway, and often times their escapades would lead to the users building a 'was here' rest area while one of the party members needed to take a break.

Since its inception, the network has been ingeniously integrated into many AWTeen communities, and the continuing activity and construction in those communities allows the road network to live on indefinitely.
