History
The History of Active Worlds is long and robust, spanning many years and involving hundreds of thousands of people. The browser as we know it was officially released on June 28th, 1995 as Alphaworld, a new project by Ron Britvich. Since that time, it has transformed into the multi-world universe we know as Active Worlds and has changed hands several times... eventually settling on the Circle of Fire studios -- now AWI.
Timelines
One of the easiest and most intuitive ways to monitor history on wiki software is by the use of timelines. With their affinity to the outline format of the wiki, they are very easy to create and simple to read.
The timelines are far from complete -- if you feel you have some information to contribute, please do so! You are more than welcome to!

General Timeline
Perhaps our most important timeline, the ActiveWiki community is working to chronicle and record the major events from each year the Active Worlds Universe has been in existence. From 1995 to the present, our general timeline records events large and small in the timeline, while also keeping track of influential worlds, events, and builds of that year.
Navigation of our timeline is simple -- just click on a year in the table to the right, and you'll be sent to our history pages. This table can be found on each year page so you can navigate back and forward as necessary.
As a project, we have begun work from the present and are working our way backwards. This said, the 2010 page will be the most developed page and should be the example for which all other pages take their cue. Any suggestions for formatting or doing something differently are encouraged, and should be made on the History talk page.

Cy Awards Timeline
The Cy Awards Timeline is a collection of pages that detail each Cy Awards ceremony from its inception in 1998. As with the general timeline, a table can be found on the right of the page for each ceremony. This is to assist with easy page navigation.
