Peacekeepers
The Peacekeepers was an organization of Volunteer AW Citizens that acted as informative helpers and security in Active Worlds worlds. The organization was founded by Razzle. If needed, they were summoned through their website, http://www.peacekeeper.net/ , email and also via telegram. The Peacekeepers were officially disbanded by the Core Team on July 10, 2021, citing concerns about lack of sufficient communications by AWI and the low levels of user activity in the public universe.
Overview
The Peacekeepers were a voluntary group of citizens that served as the public universe's content moderation team. Their website stated, "We assist users in disputes and try to prevent harassment of any user by others regardless of the form, be it verbal abuse or harassment, racism or vandalism".
Responsibilities
The formal moderation responsibilities of the peacekeepers were guided by the Content Guidelines and Conduct Guidelines.

Organizational Structure and Membership
Core Team
The Core Team oversaw the Peacekeeper organization. These were the members of the team active at the time the organization disbanded:
Peacekeeper Academy
The Peacekeeper Academy trained and instructed Peacekeepers and Peacekeeper initiates. They created a six-week program that taught incident documentation, effective chat software use, user interaction, and simulations of vandalism and harassment. These were the current instructors at the time the organization disbanded:
Special Response Team
The Special Response Team handled the hardest cases that came before the Peacekeepers, including major harassment, vandalism of privately owned worlds, and the hacking of citizen accounts. They also helped world owners with technical and security issues. No members were assigned to the Special Response Team when the organization was disbanded.
Garbage Elimination Team
The Garbage Elimination Team, or GET, was a special unit of Peacekeepers that dealt with the removal of garbage in Public Building Worlds. They were very selective about what qualified as garbage. In addition, the GET team did not reveal their identities to avoid unnecessary harassment to themselves. In order to report sites that need to be cleared, an online form was provided by the Peacekeepers.
In later years, prior to the disbanding of the larger Peacekeeper organization, AWI formally took over garbage elimination duties.
In May 2019, GET was returned to the Peacekeepers.
