- Global Chat Channels become available; channels for #world, #swcity, and #builders.
- Jump points become available.
- Verbal commands such as '^coords' allow ease-of-use for Alphaworld users.

- SW City Interactive achieves 1000 registered users.

- Sevens and Hicks8 build the community of Greensville in the Outerlands territory of SW City. (This might have actually begun in July. Conjecture based upon the SW City History article in the SW City Encyclopedia.)

- Huntington City was founded by Citizens Arnold NYC, Dashie567 and Ali.
- July 29
- AlexTheMartian begins his new development on Seawing Island in SW City's territory.

- Mark Randall adds a HUD Icon for easy access to Scarabian User Terminals through the global Eclipse Evolution Bot. Every user that is on the #swcity chat channel can see it.

- The Ultimate AW User Guide is first released to the public.
- October 21
- The first SW City Interactive quest to use web interface commands is created in Ilexus Village in Estates District.

- 2009 Cy Awards took place at 10pm VRT. Over 100 users were in attendance, and the ceremonies were hosted by Lady Teal.
