The city of Sedan, commonly referred as Sedan (pronounced /sea-dən/), is the main administrative division of the world of the same name and occupies about 70% of its exploitable land area and approximately 10% of its total actual terrain. Mainly urban, Sedan's style is based on a populated city located on a tropical archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean. In its fictional context, Sedan is the nation's largest city of the United Islands and the largest and capital city of the state of Nuwa Lueza.

The city is itself composed of more than 15 municipal districts where each are distinct from the others in matter of style, architecture and types of attractions.

Co-founded with Mariobros, Sedan is the fourth city created by Nyxboy and its development is managed by JVP Development, a virtual urbanist firm founded in Sedan itself.

History

First Ideas 2003

Even though the current plans of the city as it is today dates from 2006, Nyxboy first had projects of a City in an island world as far back as in 2003, just after the deletion of Daliaxy in the galaxy of Newfoundland. During that period Nyx remained in the galaxy for a few weeks during which he built a few more small things but nothing significant. One of these was a presentation of a city on an island. The exposure had a few fictive maps and images, and 2 small scale models of a bridge. The goal was to find co-owners who would have been willing to found and finance the world where the city would be settled with him but the project did not get success and Nyx abandoned the idea.

Characteristics

The original plans draw by Nyxboy in 2003 were already depicting a bay and a peninsula with a bridge planned to cross it. These had resemblances with the current shape of the terrain of Sedan in its southeastern area. A mount with a panoramic view was also planned to be in the center of the world which could be considered to be an equivalent of the Mount Sedan.

Foundation of the City

The city of Sedan was founded on February 15th 2006 by Nyxboy and Mariobros. The city has passed through a relatively quiet period of progressive development until 2009. The federal government kept the public from entering the world during this entire period so the city wasn't accessible for visitors.

The first Opening

On November 1st 2010 at 4pm VRT, the world opened for the first time to AW Citizens and tourists for a one week opening project that allowed tourism in the city.

2011

On February 15th of 2011, alongside with the world, the city of Sedan celebrated its fifth anniversary since its foundation in February 2006. It is also the city's first anniversary that has been celebrated since the worlds was open to the public.

Setting

Location of Sedan on Nuwa Lueza Island.

As the nation's economic center

Sedan is the nation's largest city and the economic center of the United Islands and the largest and capital city of its state. The state, and island, on which Sedan is established is named Nuwa Lueza.

Geography

Located on the largest of the eight main islands of the UI metropolitan archipelago, the city area surrounds the Bay of Sedan and is located in a coastal basin along the southeast coast of the Nuwa Lueza Island. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on its south and east sides and delimited on its north and west side by mountainous chains.

Climate

Like most of the United Islands territories, the metropolitan Sedan area has a typical tropical climate. Warm all year with an average temperature ranging between 20°C and 30°C, this climate permitted ancient rain forests to grow and cover most of the national parks area around the city.

Local Cultural Influence

Local Polynesian words and expressions are omnipresent throughout the city as street, location and agency names.

Urban Structure

The city of Sedan has an urban structure that can be compared to those like Los Angeles and the populated cities of Australia. More specifically, the city follows a spread and low density development. Most of the municipal districts of Sedan are composed, or planned to be composed, of suburban detached houses and small commercial buildings that have generally a maximum height of two to three floors. The Central District is the exception. Being Sedan Central Business District, the division contrasts the other districts with a higher density development.

In addition to its urban area, Sedan is surrounded by beaches and the ocean on its coastal sides and national parks composed of mountains and tropical jungles on its north and west side.

JVP Development is the current company in charge of Sedan's development.

The city of Sedan is divided into approximately 15 districts that designate the city's boroughs where the downtown, or the cbd, of Sedan is identified as the Central District.

For some districts, names and territories are still subject to modification.

Transportation

Road Network

Sedan has most of the largest world's road infrastructures composing its road network composed of several roads and boulevards assisted with freeways, bridges, tunnels and interchanges. All roads in the city territory are maintained and manage by the RTDNL(Roads and Traffic Division of Nuwa Lueza), a state agency, and follow the world's road standards.

See the RTDNL webpage for more information about the road conditions.

Freeways

Four of the world's freeways connect most of the city's neighborhoods. In Sedan there is only one of the national freeways, being the Fedroad 1, and three of the Nuwa Luezan state freeway system, which are the NL10, NL10 and NL210.

The widest and most used freeway of the city is the Fedroad 1 for having partially 5 to 6 lanes in each directions and for being the main link between the Central District and the Sedan International Airport.

Most of the other freeways in Sedan are composed of three lanes in each directions. Although, on September 23rd 2009, the RTDNL upgraded the City Bypass Freeway (NL20) into an 8 lanes wide freeway(4 in each directions). The city bypass freeway was until this date 6 lanes wide.

Public Transportation

The city also has a public transit agency, named Metroway, running a bus network that is, as of May 2011, partially operational. A metro network is also planned to be built in the future. Both systems use, or will use, the server controlled movers technology.

Sedan International Airport

The main and only, tough imposing, airport in Sedan is the Sedan International Airport, SIA, serving the city and fictively all the southeastern regions of Nuwa Lueza. The airport is also the main hub for the national airline carrier Pawa Airlines. The SIA's terminal is still under construction and is one of the two JVP building project priorities alongside with the road network.

Occupying most of the Pasawulu Peninsula, the terrain allowed to the airport that includes the terminals and the runways takes 615cells or 61,500m² of the city's land. It also has been extended significantly with the addition of an important size of land reclamation in early 2011. This portion added of the other accommodations like a parking lot, a car rental and a metro station will occupy approximately 5% of the city territory.

The Sedan International Airport is used to welcome the users visiting the city and started to operate on November 1st 2010.

Economy and Organizations

Sedan has a wealthy economy based on technologies, tourism and finance. Most of the world's organizations are headquarted in Sedan. Mostly because it is the world's main administrative division and because it is the largest city and economic center of the United Islands. Most of these organizations are, or will be, headquartered in the Central District of Sedan. Some most notable of them are Nuwatel, Payatek and the UI Bank.

Banks

In Sedan alone, there are four banks headquartered in the CD; UI Bank, the Bank of Ashfax, Nuib and the Bank Archipelago.

Law enforcement organizations

SPD Police car

The Sedan Police Department (SPD) is the official and currently the only law enforcement agency patrolling in Sedan. Its jurisdiction is limited within the territory of the city itself but extends on all the state and national freeways on the city territory.

It is however, predefined that in the case the world's government happened to implant independent highway patrol departments in the world, the SPD would lose its jurisdictions on the entire city freeway network.

The department is equipped with a fleet of SPD customized police cars patrolling in most of the city districts and helicopters are also expected for future air patrolling.

Landmarks and symbols

Important landmarks and symbols of Sedan include the Sedan Sign alongside the mount Sedan, Albizia Beach, the Sedan Bridge, the One Central Square (The Sedan Tower), Pacific District, Pacific Blvd, Ashfax Blvd, Mount Luh'Wara, and the Sedanian wide freeways.
