Why do I get a password reminder?
If your password has not been changed for a certain time specified by universe options, the client browser will inform you and ask to change your password on every login. Once your password has been successfully changed, the reminder will not appear for several months.
The password reminder and to change your password in a certain interval is for your own account's security.
What is a strong password?
A strong password is at least 8 characters long, containing upper and lower case letters, numbers and sign. A strong password is also auto-generated for you when you click the "Forgot Password" button at the login dialog.
A strong password helps also to protect your account.
What is a secondary password?
A secondary password protects usage of your account from your own PCs and laptops only. The secondary password is stored with your computer, Activeworlds does not know this password either. If you have a secondary password assigned for you account, and the PC or laptop is not registred for this account yet, it will ask to provide the secondary password once. It will not ask for the secondary password again, unless you changed it. If you want to disable a secondary password, empty the according field in your account management dialog.
Why is my provided email address important?
It is important to provide a valid email address in order to communicate with Activeworlds Support, to retrieve a new auto-generated strong password when pressing the "Forgot Password" button at the login dialog, as well in order to use the credit system for your account.
I forgot my password
If you forgot your password it is not a big deal. By providing your citizen name and pressing the "Forgot Password" button at the login dialog, you'll be asked to verify your email address. After this verification process, a new auto-generated strong password will be sent to your mail box. This procedure might take up to several hours.

Notes
Activeworlds may charge a fee to reset your account's passwords on request, and may ask to prove legitimate ownership of the account.
