The Support AW Awards were an awards ceremony that ran in the mid 2000's that were sponsored by Support AW and founded by Maki. They differed from the more popular Cy Awards in that nominees were judged by a panel of users who had experience in each award topic.
History
The Support AW Awards were founded by Maki in response to the growing interest throughout the community in an awards show that wasn't determined by popular vote. The Support AW Organization at this time was very prolific in the AW Community, and their popularity brought great interest to the effort.
1st Ceremony
The first Support AW Awards were held on Saturday, April 29th, 2006, as part of the 6th AWNews anniversary celebrations.
The first SAW ceremony was heralded as a success.; The world user limit of 40 users was met throughout the ceremony. The first ceremony showcased ten categories:
Active Community: SW City
Best World for Design: America, Legends2
Better Building: Off World
Superior Programming: Eclipse Evolution, Hermes
Top Creative Design: Avatar_(world)
Non-Profit Contributor: Freebie
Community Leader: Syntax
Greatest Online Resource: mauz.info
Best Use of Innovative Technology: Alphaworld Enhanced
Outstanding (Support AW) Staff Award: Hyper Anthony
Following Ceremonies
The second SAW awards were held on Saturday, April 28th, 2007. The third SAW awards were held on Saturday, April 26, 2008. That was the last year a SAW ceremony was held, and the Support AW Organization on the whole has been in general hiatus since this time.
