- Not to be confused with the Dutch Active Worlds wiki, 3Dwiki.
3dwiki was a software project first announced by Brant in November 2007. Development on the project began several months earlier, in July 2007. Prior to its announcement during the Activeworlds Technology Celebration, it was known by the codename '"Arazu".
Etymology
The name Arazu originates from ancient Babylon. Babylonians saw Arazu as the "god of completed construction." The project's code name was taken from the standard AWTeen naming scheme where bots are named after ancient gods and goddesses. Arazu's interface was intended to follow the AWTeen standard of issuing bot commands by chat, using the prefix "a:". This is similar to Demeter's "d:" convention.
History
3dwiki was unveiled as part of the Activeworlds Technology Celebration on February 29, 2008.
Features
3dwiki was designed primarily to be used by any Active Worlds citizen, regardless of their rights or privileges in any given world. Thus, users do not need to be Caretakers in a world to take advantage of 3dwiki. All commands and chat are defined in configuration files, allowing the user to translate every word uttered by 3dwiki into any language. 3dwiki is also designed to be interoperable with other bots, such as Demeter, the Xelagot, Eclipse Evolution, and chat relays.
Testing of 3dwiki began on January 15, 2008, and concluded on February 22, 2008. The status of this project has since been unknown.
