A facer is a nickname for objects that are configured to always face the user. It may also refer to a similar argument of Particle Emitters. Facers are most commonly 2D objects, in which case they are also known as sprites.

Facers have historically been used for non-essential landscaping or context objects, such as trees or shrubs. It is possible to have a non-2D facer, one example of which being security camera objects that always face the user. They are also used in place of avatars at a long distance in highly populated areas to improve performance in regards to frame rate.
