Copton
Copton is a neighborhood in the North Rockford district of the city of Rockford. It sits directly north of the Downtown Rockford and features various buildings and structures, including Copton Boatyard and Copton Plaza. The neighborhood has recently underwent a major redevelopment in late 2009, including the renovation of the boatyard and building a new, massive bridge linking western side of the river to Copton which sits on east bank.
Copton was named for a company called Circle of Peace Inc. that was formerly governing entity of the former Peace Colony which became Kingdom of Palmshire. Formerly an independent municipality, it was annexed to city of Rockford in late 2000s.
