Active Worlds uses a CAV system for the custom avatars we can dress. The basic body objects are in the class of boned skinned avatar creations. ActiveWorlds currently offers the body choice type human and anime with gender choice of male or female and avatar style of adult or teen to build your CAV. Each body choice comes with its own menu of items of clothing or design they can use. These choices are specific to each body choice as many of the basic items replace the specific area of skin on the avatar object and must match exactly to the original shape and size.

About now someone will say but hair add-ons, some belts, and hats are not part of the CAV skin. I have to say you are right. These items are designed to attach to the avatar by designating a specific “tag” location from allowable tags on a skeleton of the avatar during the creation of the basic avatar body by the modeler. Ok since for some this is a little technical, lets just give you a formula to know how the stores designate the items for sale for their specific body type at this time.

The basic formula that determines what store you should shop in for your additional or replacement clothing and add-ons is determined as follows:

<body type + gender + avatar style>.

Additionally in the stores you will see that clothing and add-ons will state this information plus the item of clothing or what part(s) of the CAV body the item is to be applied to or on as well as the amount of credits it will cost to purchase the item.

As a side note credits maybe purchased by selecting the coin icon on your icon bar and following the menu requests for input and payment.
