AW_WORLD_BACKDROP

Type

String

Description

Backdrop image.

Notes

This is the background image, in jpg format but without the ".jpg" ending, from the object server's "textures" directory. If set to "" (null-string) then no backdrop is displayed and a skybox or a solid color will be shown instead.

The backdrop image is displayed behind all objects in the 3D viewport, and does not necessarily move at the same speed when a user turns. The speed of backdrop rotation is defined by the size of the user's viewport, as well as by the resolution of the backdrop image. The image resolution is typically around 1536x384 pixels.

Backdrops were available from the earliest versions of Activeworlds, and (as of 2008), many world owners consider them to be obsolete. Skyboxes, background colors, and clouds have largely replaced backdrops in most worlds.

Default

"", null-string
