A universe is a product offering a collection of worlds. Each universe is unique; they hold their own citizen information and neither worlds nor citizens can be shared between other universes. The Active Worlds universe has been the primary one since its inception, however separate universes were not available until 1998 with Outerworlds being the first to open.
Universes are run by a universe server (also known as a uniserver), which stores attributes and citizen data such as telegrams.
