Spiral Glacier is a vast resort mountain within AWTeen, built by Foxmore o. The area sports ski trails of varying difficulty that challenge users to complete them. The area itself is a true mathematical helix, created with the aide of a Xelagot script to appropriately place the terrain for the Glacier.

Structure

The Glacier is a large terrain mountain within AWTeen that spans 80 cells across. Starting from the left, the Glacier descends into a spiral from the altitude of 325m to -190m. The mountain is steeper towards its center, and flattens out as you get to the right edges. Due to the glacier shape there are very large, sharp drops; however, these drops are flanked by sentinel trees to protect skiers.

The first such mountain of this type was built in a testing world named Guild. Foxmore crafted the mountain with a Xelagot script that utilized Sin/Cos along with step function to generate the terrain.rwx objects in the spiral shape. Tree objects were randomly generated and then manually cleared to form the main trails for skiers.

The facilities include: lodge, pool, mogul field race course, Ped-slideways that go 3/4th of the way around the area. If you have time, ride the warp lifts back to the top for the best over-all view of the area and the trails.

Activities

Ski Trails

  • Green Circle - The Green Circle is Spiral Glacier's beginner trail. Dark green trees mark the trail and generally alternate left to right. Skiers are advised that although the green trails are usually smooth, some turns can be difficult.
  • Blue Square - The Blue Square trails are Spiral Glacier's intermediate course. These trails are an interlaced series of turns with some jumps.
  • Black Diamond - The Black Diamond trails are Spiral Glacier's expert course. Skiers are advised not to go too fast; its very easy to hit a tree!

Although there are indeed three main (marked) trails, the guide bot knows of nine trails, but you'll have to say "r2 lead me" in order to discover them.

Ski Movers are available to supplement the fun of skiing on the Glacier. (available at the rental area) The movers have varying set speeds to reflect the proficency of the user. The 'hot-dog' skiis (red color) have the best general speed/turn settings.

Bot Guide

A bot named [R2D2] is usually on hand at the top of the mountain to guide people along various trails down the mountain. If skiers can tolerate the various eccectricies that come with being guided by R2, then they will find it to be a fine tourbot of the various trails across the glacier.

The bot is based on a custom X1 (beta 4.0) script built by Foxmore. R2 is a variable speed critter and is controlled by the folks skiing nearby. It can learn new routes down the mountain and mark the route with your name so you can repeat the run.

Since R2's speed can be varied and the skiis come with different tuning/speed combinations and the trees are usually a LOT closer than you think they are, playing a game of "chase the bot" can rapidly turn into just trying to "keep up" with the thing. :)
