Located in the Options dialog box, the Web Settings tab controls how Active Worlds reacts to web content.

Web Content

The first section allows you to choose where you want to view web content. This can either be in the docked web window or in an external browser. It is recommended to use the docked web window as many of the features used in Active Worlds can only be accessed using the internal browser.

If the docked web window is selected, you can still use your default browser to open web content by holding down the CTRL(Control) key and clicking on a link.

Your default browser is selected through your operating system.

Web Features

These are the options located in the Web Features Section:

  • Temporary Cache and Cookies: If enabled, this option empties web cache upon exiting the Active Worlds browser.
  • Use System Proxy Resolver: Forces the Active Worlds web browser to use the System Proxy Resolver. This is unchecked by default.
  • Disable Proxy Detection: Disables proxy detection. This is unchecked by default.
  • Use system SSL: Uses the system specified SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). This is unchecked by default.
  • Best Compatability: Allows Active Worlds to determine the best compatibility settings. This is unchecked by default.
  • Best GPU Support: Allows Active Worlds to determine the best GPU (graphics processing unit) settings. This is unchecked by default.
  • Disable Web Action Commands: Restricts web action commands found in-world. Disabling this decreases the functionality of Active Worlds when coming across in-world web content. This is unchecked by default.

External Web Window

This provides settings for the external web browser. You can select to display links that you manually select or to display all web content you encounter. The option to display all web content is selected by default. Deselecting that may reduce browser functionality.
